Legislation Action 2015

Now that we have turned the corner into 2015 both the state and federal legislature are in full swing and activity is increasing. So must ours.

Education is a hot topic again this year following on the heels of last year’s rebranding of Common Core.

The Coalition of Central Indiana Tea Parties (CCITP) has developed a chart to track proposed education bills in the Indiana legislature.  Please click here to view this chart.  EDUCATION BILLS STATUS CHART

Immediate calls are needed on the following legislation.

HB 1099 Contact Rep Behning, Rep Bosma and the Governor and ask them to call a hearing in Committee of HB 1099 HB 1099 Removes the requirement that Indiana's educational standards must comply with federal standards necessary to receive a flexibility waiver under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

Rep Behning needs to schedule a hearing for this bill to continue. Request Education committee members to ask Rep to schedule a hearing and support the bill.

HB 1296 is another bill you should follow and ask for passage.
The House Education Committee held a hearing on House Bill 1296 yesterday Jan 20.  The committee did not vote on the bill, and though polling shows this is a popular concept with 74% of voters, there was significant opposition to the measure.
